Summary

A report released this October has confirmed the use of forced sterilization of people with disabilities in Colombia. Under Colombian guardianship law, an absolute or partial guardian may petition the court for surgical procedures, including sterilization.  The report states that Colombia has violated a number of international agreements by allowing this practice of sterilization to occur.
