International Day of Persons with Disabilities

International Day of Persons with Disabilities

December 3 is International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The United Nations day of recognition has a theme of Sustainable Development: The Promise of Technology. The theme targets the role of technology in:

– Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Responses
– Creating Enabling Working Environments
– Disability-Inclusive Sustainable Development Goals.

According to a statement by Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary General of the United Nations, “Technology has changed the world, bringing knowledge within reach and expanding a range of opportunities. Persons with disabilities can benefit enormously from such advances, yet too many lack access to these essential tools.”
