Edward Verne Roberts: 1939-1995

Edward was the first student with a big disability to attend to University of California, Berkeley. He was the leader of disability rights movement.

After getting polio as a teenager, he had problems breathing and breathed in a respirator. He was named director of the California Department of Rehabilitation in 1975.

He became head of Berkeley Center of Independent living for people with disabilities.

He served The Department of Rehabilitation until 1983. He returned to Berkeley and made a World institute on Disability.
