Portrait of Chuck Close

Chuck Close

Chuck Close is a renowned artist. His paintings are sought after by museums.

He was born in Monroe, Washington, on July 5, 1940. He attended the University of Washington and Yale University.

He was paralyzed by a spinal artery collapse at the age of 48. He was paralyzed from his neck down. This made it hard for him to paint, but he kept painting by taping his brush to his wrist and painting with it.

Chuck Close’s paintings are truly amazing because he uses his wrist rather than his hand, and his paintings are so detailed they look like photographs. His technique is hyper-realism.
