More than 100 legal employers nationwide have signed the American Bar Association’s Commission on Mental and Physical Disability Law one-page pledge to promote disability diversity in the legal profession.

A variety of advocacy law groups, law firms, law schools and state bar associations have signed the pledge, including DisAbility Rights Washington, the University of Washington School of Law, the Washington State Bar Association and the National Disability Rights Network.

The pledge began at the Second ABA National Conference on Employers of Lawyers with Disabilities in June 2009. That year, the ABA released an extensive report on the status of lawyers and law students with disabilities and best practices for employers working with individuals with disabilities. The National Law Journal (subscription required) highlighted the diversity pledge in October.
